Measuring Guide

If your measurements are between sizes, order the larger size.  For greatest accuracy, have someone take your measurements rather than yourself.  The tape measure should be pulled snug, not tight. Check the size scale of all garments being ordered to ensure that all measurements were taken at the proper points.

Chest

Have your child stand tall with arms relaxed at his side. Using a soft vinyl measuring tape measure around the fullest part of the chest under the arms. The tape should be parallel to the floor and not too tight.

Height

Stand barefooted with feet together and back to the wall. Measure from the top of the head to the floor. Pull tape measure up under arms and around shoulder blades. Measure the fullest part of the chest.

Waist

Measure natural waist (but not over pants).  Keep one finger between tape and body. Have your child stand tall with arms relaxed at his side.  Using a soft vinyl measuring tape measure around the smallest part of the waist. Have child bend to the side. This will be the natural waistline.  The tape should not be too tight.  If measurements fall in more than one size, order the large size.

Seat/Hips

Stand with the heels together and measure around the fullest part.

Inseam

Measure from the base of the crotch to the top of the shoe.  Have your child stand with legs slightly apart.  Using a soft vinyl tape measure, measure from just below his crotch down to the floor.  Subtract 1½'' (4cm) from your measurement.  Record the length in inches, this is the inseam.  You can also measure the inside seam of a pair of pants that fit well to find your child's inseam length.  Place the pants on a level surface and measure the inside seam from the crotch to the hem.  This is for inseam.

Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co. is an apparel manufacturing company primarily known for its largest brand, Dickies.  The company was founded in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1922 by C. N. Williamson and E. E. "Colonel" Dickie, who began a denim bib overall company selling workwear to farm and ranch hands around the Southwest.  Today, Dickies is a global brand found in more than 100 countries designing, manufacturing and selling workwear to the automotive, hospitality, construction and medical industries.

From its early years, Williamson-Dickie enjoyed steady growth which was slowed only by the Great Depression, and during World War II the company produced millions of uniforms for the nation's armed forces.  In converting to civilian production after the war, C. Don Williamson began a strategy of geographical expansion and established new production facilities, warehouses, and sales territories throughout the United States.  In the late 1950s, Williamson-Dickie became an international company by expanding into the European market and the Middle Eastern market—where Texas oilmen introduced the Dickies brand to Middle Eastern oil fields.

Dickies is currently sold in all 50 U.S. states and throughout the world in countries such as Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Australia, Russia, Chile, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Iceland, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland with COH Sales Ltd, Croatia, the Philippines, Poland and Mexico.

How to measure without a ruler or tape measure?

If you don't have a ruler or tape measure handy, you can try to measure with a standard credit card, which has a width of 3 ⅜ inch or 8.56 cm and a height of 2 ⅛ inch or 5.4 cm.
